Three years ago, WPI established the university-wide Inclusive Excellence Division/School Action Plans organized around four strategic priority goals: Inclusive Campus Culture in Service of Students; Innovation and Equity in Teaching, Research, and Scholarship; STEM Access and Retention; and Diverse Talent Strategies. These goals collectively underpin overarching diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB)  efforts at WPI to create a culture in which all members of the community feel an authentic sense of inclusion and belonging. Over these past three years, members of the WPI community made significant gains and have already implemented advances that positively impact students, faculty, and staff at WPI. The teams have also identified works-in-progress that underscore the ongoing nature of DEIB work.

Please refer to the SIE dashboard https://hub.wpi.edu/SIE to see a summary of the extensive DEIB work led by SIE partners and other colleagues. In recognition of this work to advance DEIB at WPI, we look forward to presenting awards of appreciation during the “Champions of Diversity” session at our inaugural, on-campus DEIB conference on November 6.

As we approach the new fiscal year, the SIE partners will move forward in collaboration with DEIB to develop and implement three DEIB goals across all divisional/schools during the upcoming fiscal year. Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Tony Laing will be convening with the SIE partners in early fall of 2023 to discuss and collaborate on the new goals.
