Title: Can Math and Machine Learning See the Invisible? Personalized Prediction of Brain Tumor Infiltration
Abstract: Glioblastoma (GBM) is one of the deadliest brain tumors, often spreading beyond what medical images can reveal. Standard treatments target a fixed margin around the visible tumor, but in reality, GBM infiltrates seemingly healthy brain tissue in complex ways. How can we make better predictions? Beyond imaging, we know that tumor cells proliferate and spread — processes common in nature that can be described by mathematical models. In this talk, we explore how scientific machine learning combines mathematical models with medical imaging data to uncover hidden tumor infiltration, enabling to smarter, more personalized treatment.
