Pop-up Exhibit #3 ft. WPI’s Robert and Esther Goddard Collection: Where the Space Age Began
12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Archives & Special Collections is holding a pop-up exhibit on the main floor of Gordon Library featuring items from the Robert and Esther Goddard Collection as part of the Centennial Event to celebrate Robert H. Goddard's first liquid-fueled rocket launch on March 16th, 1926. Robert Goddard attended WPI from 1904-1908 and graduated with an undergraduate degree in General Science, whereupon he stayed on as an Physics Instructor until 1909.
Exhibit items from the collection were donated by Esther Goddard, the wife of Robert Goddard, and include research papers from his time at WPI, his undergraduate thesis, photographs, his toolkit, and some of his experimental rocket parts.
