Abstract: This project involved the design and implementation of a new speed intent architecture for a mobile robot, aimed at improving its ability to accurately and quickly determine the intent of the robot. The previous architecture used persistence trackers to determine the intent of the robot which became outdated as the speed of the robot was not being utilized. The new architecture was designed to analyze data from the controller in real-time and provide feedback to the brake lights. The design was implemented and tested on a physical robot, with experiments conducted to evaluate its performance. The results showed that the new architecture was able to show significantly better results. This project highlights the importance of careful design and implementation of speed intent in mobile robot control systems.
