Dr. Tony Laing is a K-12 and higher education scholar-practitioner. He teaches and writes in the area of gender, sexuality and youth studies. Specifically, his scholarship and publications lie at the intersection of youth studies, gender studies (constructions of masculinities), single-gender schools, queer theory, and African American Studies.

Dr. Laing serves as the Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging within Talent and Inclusion at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Previously, he served as K-12 Wayland METCO Director which provides educational opportunities for students of color to attend suburban schools. He has also worked as a lecturer, in diversity affairs, student affairs, study abroad, and academic advising. His work at the collegiate level centers on creating more welcoming campuses for students, faculty, and staff of color.

Dr. Laing obtained a doctorate in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of International Management Organization from New York University, completed the Management Development Program at the Harvard Institutes for higher education managers, and obtained a second Masters from the Specialized Studies Program, with an Education Management concentration, from The Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Laing is also serving a second 5-year term on his alma mater's Board of Trustees at Wheaton College (Massachusetts), a first term as Trustee at Montserrat College of Art, past member of Judge Baker’s Children Center’s External Affairs and Communications committee and served for 6 years as Board Chair of the Alliance for Domestic & International Educational Programs. He is also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.
