Kathleen serves as Director of the Global Experience Office (GEO) which administers WPI’s Global Projects Program (GPP). She, along with the Dean and Associate Dean of the Global School, Chair of the Department of Integrative and Global Studies, and Director of the Great Problems Seminar, form the leadership team for the Global School and the GPP. Kathleen leads a team of five professional staff to manage operations, logistics, and student learning/experience within the GPP. This includes developing, implementing and assessing policies and procedures governing the GEO, GPP, exchange programs and other university-sponsored off-campus travel. She also works collaboratively with the Associate Dean and Director of Global Risk Management to support and manage health, safety and emergency response. Prior to joining WPI, Kathleen was the Director of International Education at Elmhurst University (Elmhurst, IL) and the Director of the Center for International Studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Boston, MA). Kathleen is a member of the Forum on Education Abroad’s Standards of Good Practice Consensus Body and was recently selected as a member of the Forum on Education Abroad’s "Advancing the Profession of Education Abroad" Working Group. Kathleen earned a BA in Spanish from Colgate University where she spent a semester studying at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain and completed her M.S. in Global Studies and International Affairs at Northeastern University. There, she conducted field research in Italy on European higher education, the Bologna Process and student mobility.

State Department gives grants to expand study abroad programs

WPI will launch a new initiative to increase access to off-campus project-based learning experiences through the Global Projects Program, with funding from a State Department IDEAS grant. The effort will focus on students with disabilities. The project, led by the Global Experience Office in collaboration with the Office of Accessibility Services, is highlighted in this UPI news report.
