Rachael Heard (she/her) joined our office in February of 2019 and serves as the Associate Director of Multicultural Affairs. Her dedication to and excitement for student success drives her to create innovative and impactful identity development opportunities for the WPI community while striving for equity and access. She coordinates the Connections Pre-Orientation program which increases students’ potential for college success by easing the transition from high school to college, promoting excellence, providing mentorship, and encouraging social and community involvement.
She works to develop a broad set of dynamic programs that highlight and celebrate the identities and experiences of our WPI students during national heritage and history months. Rachael collaborates with partners across campus and within the New England Region to expand and improve our First-Generation Student Success initiatives. She also oversees the Inclusive Design Council which aims to bring together offices and departments who serve our diverse student populations.
Prior to joining our office, Rachael received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Biotechnology from WPI and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. Outside of the office, Rachael serves as the Head Coach of the Cheerleading Team.
