Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP)

Since 1974, the Washington, D.C., Project Center has offered students the opportunity to work on projects with federal agencies and non-profits in the nation’s Capital. Housing is in an attractive neighborhood near DuPont Circle, many stores and restaurants.  Via the Metro, students can visit the many free museums, parks and national monuments.

Past Washington DC students have:

  • Recommended environmentally-safe methods of collection and disposal of expired marine emergency flares with the US Coast Guard
  • Studied effectiveness of head protection devices reducing risk of brain injury with the Consumer Product Safety Commission
  • Evaluated methods of reducing energy usage at wastewater treatment facilities with the US Department of Energy
