Inside Higher Ed's Academic Minute featured Kent Rissmiller, dean of interdisciplinary and global studies ad interim, who explores how project-based learning can set students up for success outside school.

In an audio segment on Inside Higher Ed's Academic Minute, Kristin Wobbe, Co-Director of the Center for Project-Based Learning, explains that project-based learning provides benefits from the beginning.

In an audio segment on the cost of higher education from Inside Higher Ed, Dean Art Heinricher, undergraduate studies, discussed the value of project-based learning. “Project-based learning works because it’s more than a pedagogical approach, more than a way to teach better. It’s a fundamental survival skill for the future our graduates must build,” he said.​

In another Inside Higher Ed  segment, Rick Vaz, co-director of the Center for Project-Based Learning, discussed "Women in STEM Fields." “Project-based learning could be a powerful strategy to attract and retain more talented women into science and technology fields,” he said.

Inside Higher Ed published this opinion piece by Andrew Palumbo, assistant vice president for enrollment management and dean of admissions and financial aid. “I share WPI’s path to eliminating test scores from our merit-based scholarships with the hopes of encouraging my colleagues at other schools that either have test-optional admission policies or are in the process of considering such a policy to keep this next frontier of the test-optional movement in mind,” he wrote.

Inside Higher Ed featured this op-ed by Richard Vaz, director, Center for Project-Based Learning. “The benefits of having students tackle authentic problems are powerful. Problems that communities or organizations face are almost always interdisciplinary and require consideration of a range of stakeholders’ perspectives,” he wrote.

Inside Higher Ed interviewed WPI Librarian Anna Gold, and Lori Ostapowic-Critz, associate director, library academic strategies, for this article. Gold noted that WPI’s Shuster Lab for Digital Scholarship (centered on project-based learning) is a popular home for informal and course-related digital scholarship.
