Food Allergies, Celiac Disease, & Other Dietary Concerns

How Do We Accommodate Dietary Restrictions?

Chartwells at WPI is happy to accommodate students with food allergies and other dietary concerns.

Morgan Dining Hall: The G8 menu at our Balance U Station prepares a tasty menu line without the “Top 8” allergens or gluten. Our culinary staff and associates at the station are all specially trained to limit cross-contact during food prep.

S.P.A.C.E. (Special Product Allergen Controlled Eating): Located in the Morgan Pulse on Dining Marketplace, S.P.A.C.E. provides a wide variety of packaged gluten-free foods, cereals, snacks, breads, and prepared pasta. A toaster and microwave oven are also available in this area, and are used only for gluten-free foods to minimize cross-contamination. Non-dairy milk beverages are also available.

WPI Dining Services has a Limited Nut Exposure Policy. Nuts/nut oils are not used in any of our food production areas. Peanut butter packets are present in POD, and individually packaged items with nuts are available at our retail locations.

Please let us know who you are—we ask you to advocate for yourself by reaching out to us and completing our Nutrition Outreach Form, or by contacting Shavaun Cloran, registered dietitian.

Nutrition Facts Information: Be an Educated Consumer!

Our menus and their associated nutrition facts are all available online. Special icons are designated to indicate the category (Balanced, Sustainable, Vegetarian, and Vegan) of each menu item.

Vegetarian/Vegan

Due to the increased interest in vegetarian/vegan menu items by our students, we have expanded the number of options for each meal at POD, the Campus Center, and Goat’s Head.

The Vegetarian/Vegan Station at Morgan Dining Hall offers a variety of both vegetarian and vegan menu items, and is a great place to taste a variety of plant-based foods.

We also provide high quality protein (including eggs, seafood, and dairy) in the following ways:

  • Seafood and tofu rotating throughout our four week menu cycle
  • Hummus and a variety of cheeses at the sandwich station
  • Eggs (fried, hard, or scrambled)
  • Milk, rice, and soy milk alternatives, cottage cheese, cheese, and yogurt
  • Salad Bar, which includes tofu, tempeh (by request), legumes, whole grain salads, chia seeds, and ground flax seed
  • Two types of vegetarian burgers at the grill: one vegan, and one vegetarian
  • Whole grains rotating throughout our cycle menus
  • Oatmeal
