The BME Department had a fantastic day teaching the next generation of scientists about what Biomedical Engineers do.  Our volunteers taught visitors both young and old about the life cycle of silkworms and demonstrated how silk fibroin, an amino acid complex, can be used in a variety of medical and research applications.  The students made a human heart pump model out of household items to show how the heart works.  And then our visitors got to experiment with different devices which tested strength, balance, and heart rate.
