Biomedical Engineering

Chi Ta and Kevin Li, seniors in the biomedical engineering department, attended the North American Biomedical Engineering Conference to present their work on a device for pediatric neurosurgery. Working with advisors, Kristen Billiar (BME department head) and Oguz Cataltepe (Neurosurgeon from University of Massachusetts Medical School), they developed a device to stabilize an infant’s head during neurosurgery without restricting blood flow. In April they traveled to Binghamton University to attend the NEBEC conference to present their work and compete for the undergraduate research awards. They received the first place in the Undergraduate Design Poster category.
