Global Experience Office Director Kathleen Head Receives Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award

Kathleen Head, director of the Global Experience Office, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar award for the 202627 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

As a recipient of a Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Award, Head will participate in a two-week seminar in India to learn about that country’s education system and meet representatives of Indian universities, government, and the private sector.

“I am honored to be selected for this prestigious award, and I look forward to learning from and making meaningful connections with education leaders and professionals in India, as well as with my fellow Fulbright scholars,” said Head. “I am eager to bring these insights back to WPI to help create new pathways for our students and faculty to collaborate on projects, conduct research, and have transformative academic and cultural experiences in India, while working in partnership with universities and community organizations.”

Head is a leader in international education who directs the Global Experience Office, which administers the university’s Global Projects Program and facilitates students completing academic projects at more than 50 WPI project centers around the world. The Global Experience Office is composed of skilled international education professionals specializing in student development, intercultural learning, program administration, and global risk management. Together, the team delivers the systems, compliance oversight, advising, and preparation that make transformative, high-impact global learning both accessible and sustainable at WPI. 

About the Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program is a prestigious academic exchange program established in 1946 to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation.

Since the program’s inception, more than two dozen WPI faculty and staff have received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar award, and the university has hosted a dozen Fulbright Visiting Scholars from around the world.

Fulbright is a program of the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. 
government. In the United States, the Institute of International Education implements the Fulbright U.S. Student and U.S. Scholar programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.
