Food For Thought: Teaching with and About AI: A Convergence–Divergence Framework for Higher Education

Wednesday, March 11, 2026
12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Floor/Room #
105

AI adoption in higher education has outpaced pedagogical guidance. Faculty are experimenting, but often without a shared vocabulary or coherent framework across various disciplines. This workshop introduces a convergence–divergence model, visualized as a daisy, developed by a multidisciplinary Faculty Learning Community (FLC) at WPI.

The core of the daisy captures what every discipline shares: AI literacy, ethical and risk awareness, and governance fluency. The petals represent how each field of the faculty in the FLC, from computer science to political science, economics to geography, engages AI through its own epistemological lens. Through real classroom vignettes, we will explore practical strategies for teaching with and about AI. Participants will leave with a framework to use in their own courses.
