Applications of Game Theory Approach in supply chain risk management

Abstract:

Through mathematical modeling and optimization techniques, game theory provides valuable insights into optimal supply chain management strategies under different scenarios. The primary objective of supply chain management is to reduce the risks associated with supply and demand uncertainties. Game theory contributes significantly to supply chain risk management by offering insights into optimal strategies for each member to manage risks within the supply chain collectively. Game theory models analyze the coordination among supply chain members by proposing effective risk management contracts. Effective risk management creates opportunities to enhance supply chain efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This presentation explores the impact of random yield and random demand on supply chain operations and analyzes optimal order strategies, pricing, and discounting approaches for retailers and suppliers. It also addresses challenges such as overproduction and suggests solutions such as implementing a down conversion policy and utilizing emergency sources. Additionally, we discuss various contracts, such as risk-sharing agreements, to distribute uncertainty-related risks among supply chain members. This presentation contributes to a better understanding of game theory in supply chain management, offering valuable insights for industry practitioners and decision-makers.
