Improving Mobile Robot Interaction with Humans in Warehouses

Abstract: With an increasing number of robots in a warehouse working alongside humans there is a natural need for collaboration between the two. Robots are programmed to operate in a specific manner, ensuring all safety protocols are followed. It is common in warehouses to encounter a situation wherein human intervention is required for robot operations.
Robots are managed by a computer/ GUI, but the most natural way to interact for a human is through hand gestures as if one is communicating with another human.
This project highlights the proof of viability for gesture control of the robots using machine learning and classical vision-based methods.
