Special Lecture "Medicinal and Process Chemistry: A Remdesivir Case Study" Jonathan Tripp, Gilead Sciences, Inc.

Friday, April 5, 2024
9:00 am to 11:00 am
Location
Floor/Room #

The discovery, development and commercialization of a pharmaceutical relies heavily on organic chemists to both identify the active pharmaceutical ingredient and to then optimize its manufacturing process. Using Remdesivir, first approved treatment for Covid-19, as a case study this seminar will showcase the differences between medicinal and process chemistry and how these pursuits play an equally important role in the drug development process while applying organic chemistry principles towards a distinctly different objective.
