Join the WiDS Datathon!

TLDR: The WiDS 2024 Datathon kicked off January 9th, 2024. All skill levels welcome. Form a team, attend peer to peer datathon workshops, win prizes & bragging rights.
The 7th Annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Global Datathon 2024 OPENS January 9th and runs through March 1st, 2024. WiDS Central Mass, hosted here at WPI in partnership with the Data Science Program, is proud to collaborate with WiDS Global for this year’s datathon challenge. Topic: Equity in Health!
Timeline: competition runs January 9 – March 1, 2024
Gilead Sciences is the sponsor for this year’s Datathon. They provided a rich, real-world dataset which contains information about demographics, diagnosis and treatment options, and insurance provided about patients who were diagnosed with breast cancer from 2015-2018. The dataset originated from Health Verity, one of the largest healthcare data ecosystems in the US. It was enriched with third party geo-demographic data to provide views into the socio-economic aspects that may contribute to health equity. Using this dataset, the following versions of the Datathon were created:
Who can participate? Anyone! If you are in DS, CS, BCB, Robotics, Math, Business, Engineering, etc. this competition is for you!
Team Formation: The WiDS Datathon is open to individuals or teams of up to 4; at least half of each team must be individuals who identify as women. Participants can be students, faculty, government workers, members of NGOs, or industry members.
*Teams of one must identify as women+.
