Experts on accessibility

Accessibility refers to accommodations or technologies that improve the ability of people with disabilities to gain better access to the world around them. It also encompasses the design of products and devices, including assistive technology, specifically designed to be used by people with disabilities. WPI experts on accessibility can discuss ways that robotics can be deployed to improve accessibility, for example through the development of exoskeletons that enable disabled people to stand, walk, and work, and the use soft robotic devices for human augmentation. They can also relate how artificial intelligence and other computing techniques may allow the deaf community to better interact with technology.
