Dr. Brittany Frederick (she/her) serves as the Director of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education. She provides strategic leadership for the programs, services, and initiatives that foster an inclusive and equitable campus environment. Brittany also works collaboratively with campus partners to identify best practices and implement data-informed strategies that strengthen student retention and promote a greater sense of belonging within the WPI community.
Driven by a passion for inclusive education, Brittany holds a rich background as an academic administrator, public historian, and scholar of twentieth-century African American history and higher education. Before joining WPI, she served as Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Fox Graduate School at Pennsylvania State University. As a scholar-practitioner, Brittany explores the historical and contemporary systems that shape educational equity and impact the experiences of underrepresented students, faculty, and staff.
Brittany holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to her doctoral study, Brittany earned a B.A. in History and an M.A. from the Public History program at the University at Albany (SUNY).
