As the Institute and Outreach Initiatives Archivist, Gillian develops, implements, and leads archival strategies for documenting and promoting Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s history. She plays a key role in preserving WPI’s legacy and impact through innovative collection development and outreach collaborations across campus, while ensuring ongoing discoverability of and access to archival resources. She leads curation of the annual Gladwin Gallery exhibit, facilitates participatory archiving with student groups, supports primary source instruction and patron research needs, and manages many other public-facing aspects of the department, such as contributing to alumni publications, partnering with other offices on special events, and running social media channels. Gillian is driven by the principles of reparative description and inclusive, community-centered collecting practices, both to build a more diverse and representative institutional memory and to present the archives as a valuable resource intended for everyone.
