MSG James Conley Graduated 12B Combat Engineer OSUT (One Station Unit Training) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO in November of 2006. He is currently serving as the Senior Military Science Instructor for the Bay State Battalion at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). MSG Conley has led a diverse career and served in a myriad of developmental and leadership positions. His first Duty Station was Fort Carson, CO, where he was assigned to the 576th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion. While assigned to the 576th he served in three combat deployments in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, and held every position from Track Vehicle Operator to Platoon Sergeant, responsible for the health, training and welfare of 40 Soldiers and their families. MSG Conley’s most recent assignment was at Fort Hood, TX as an Infantry First Sergeant for K Troop, 3d Squadron, 3d Cavalry Regiment and the Regimental (Brigade) Headquarters and Headquarters Troop First Sergeant for the 3d Cavalry Regiment.

 

MSG Conley’s institutional training background include one year as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood, MO before his selection to serve as a Drill Sergeant Leader and Senior Drill Sergeant Leader at the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy (USADSA) from June 2016 to December 2018. At the USADSA he was responsible for the training of an average of 250 Drill Sergeants annually, ensuring their expertise in Drill and Ceremony, Physical Readiness Training, Rifle Marksmanship, First Aid and Infantry Tactics. He also serves on the USADSA Tactical committee to improve the Program of Instruction.

 

MSG Conley’s Military Training includes: Ranger School, Sapper Leader Course, Air Assault School, Master Leaders Course, Combatives Level I & II, Master Fitness Trainer, Drill Sergeant School, and Basic Army Instructor Certification.

 

MSG Conley’s Military Awards and Decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the Order of Saint Maurice, the Steal Order of the DeFlury, and the Bronze Order of the DeFlury, the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, the Basic Army Instructor Badge, Air Assault Wings, the Combat Action Badge, the Sapper Tab, and the Ranger Tab.
