National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program
The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program seeks to increase the number of United States citizens receiving doctoral degrees in science and engineering (S&E) disciplines of military importance. The goal of the program is to propel talented individuals to the forefront of discoveries and innovations relevant to the Department of Defense (DoD); promote the growth of scientists/engineers within relevant DoD research disciplines; and support DoD science, engineering, and technology Innovations. This program is designed to encourage Baccalaureate recipients to enter Graduate school and ultimately gain Doctorates which align to the DoD services Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) in research and development.
Applicants compete for Fellowship opportunities listed under the DoD Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) in research development. Fellowships are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree in, or closely related to, one of the NDSEG supported disciplines.
Interested applicants must be U.S citizens or Nationals of the U.S. Applicants are eligible if they have received or will receive a baccalaureate degree in the year of their fellowship application, are within first two years of their graduate study for a traditional program (Graduate (1st-2nd year), or within the first two years of a PhD (1st-2nd year) in science or engineering. Each awardee’s NDSEG Fellowship lasts for three years.
