First-year students entering WPI for the first time in the fall of 2026 semester or later are required to live in university housing for their first and second years. On-campus housing is guaranteed for new transfer students who are interested. Additionally, all first-year students living on campus are required to enroll in a residential meal plan.
If you live within a certain distance from WPI, you may not feel like you need to live on campus. However, we encourage you to think about daily travel time and benefits of living on campus for your WPI experience as you make your housing decision. WPI strongly believes that living on campus helps new students transition successfully to college life by fostering academic engagement, social connections, and community involvement.
