Dear WPI Community,

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of the Worcester region, with forecasts calling for high winds and significant snowfall beginning overnight and continuing throughout the day tomorrow.  Accordingly, WPI is cancelling all events and activities for Thursday, January 4, 2018. We ask that all non-essential personnel stay home and off the roads. Classes are not in session.

Throughout the duration of the storm, essential personnel will be on campus to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and our facilities; employees should check with their supervisors to determine their status.

Here are revised building and dining hours for Thursday, January 4, 2018:

Building Hours:

Rubin Campus Center:  7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Sports and Recreation Center:  Closed

Gordon Library:  Closed

NOTE:  All other campus buildings will be accessible through card access only.

Dining Options:

Dunkin Donuts:  8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Campus Center Food Court: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

NOTE: All other dining facilities will be closed.

Parking: In order to assist our snow team with the formidable job of campus upkeep during the storm, the following parking modifications are in effect:

Essential employees with valid permits should use the Park Avenue garage.  All other employee/commuter parking lots will be closed, and violators will be ticketed and towed. The Dean Street garage will continue normal operations for validated parkers, but vehicles should avoid the top level to allow for plowing. The Gateway garage will also remain open for essential employees with valid permits.

As a reminder, during snow emergencies the City of Worcester imposes its own parking restrictions on city streets bordering the campus. Go to http://www.worcesterma.gov/e-services/winter-parking-ban for updates; you can also sign up for the city’s parking alerts via this site.

WPI’s grounds team works continuously to clear and maintain walkways and surface areas. However, we encourage everyone in the WPI community to use caution during the storm.

Should you find yourself in an on-campus emergency situation, please call WPI Campus Police at 508-831-5555.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
