Senior Chemical Engineering Student Receives Prestigious AIChE Award

Senior Chemical Engineering student Victor Hu was awarded a 2015-2016 Donald F. and Mildred Topp Othmer Scholarship by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). This annual award is presented to only 15 AIChE undergraduate students based on academic excellence and involvement in the local student chapter. Victor is not only strong scholastically, but serves as President of the WPI AIChE student chapter and past Chair of the Chem-E Car Competition. His aspiration is “is to be at the forefront of scientific development and innovation.” To this end, he is completing his Major Qualifying Project with Prof. Datta exploring the feasibility of a new rechargeable liquid metal-air battery for microgrid applications. Victor will represent WPI’s Chemical Engineering Department at this year’s annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah in November.
