Through SMAL (Social Media Analytics Lab), WPI Business School Masters in Information Technology student Aameer Shaikh, took a look at #queerhealth. Aameers project "#queerhealth", under the guidance of Professor Adrienne Hall-Phillips, aimed to get a better understanding of how individuals belonging to the queer community use social media to seek out help while addressing mental health challenges. Aameers work also looked at how effective this approach was. His study involved conducting surveys with LGBTQ community members and collating data from these surveys with data extracted from popular social media platforms Reddit, Inc., Discord, Instagram, and Meta (@Facebook). |
