WPI receives Presidential Grant for Alternate Academic Delivery from the Davis Educational Foundation

The Davis Educational Foundation has awarded WPI a Presidential Grant for Alternative Academic Delivery, recognizing the institution's commitment to assure high quality academic experiences in all delivery formats during and following the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant of $25,000 will support faculty professional development in online teaching during the summer months.

More than 210 faculty, post-docs, and graduate students are participating in an Online Pedagogy Workshop this summer, facilitated by instructional designers Caitlin Keller and Valerie Smedile-Rifkin. In addition, 20 faculty online champions are serving as points of contacts and building communities of practice around online and hybrid instruction, within and across departments.

The grant was received from the Davis Educational Foundation established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis's retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. The Morgan Teaching and Learning Center is administering the grant, which will augment investments in faculty development from the WPI Educational Development Council, the IT Division, and the Morgan Center's endowment.
