WPI's New Emergency Communication System

Department(s):

Dean of Students

Dear WPI Community,

As of August 1, WPI will switch to a new emergency communication system that has been designed specifically for colleges and universities.  The RAVE system covers more than 1,400 schools, and its capabilities are peerless.  We are making this change to ensure better and faster delivery of phone, text and/or email messages in the event of an emergency.

Because we are transitioning to this new system, all employees must enter their contact information.

To receive WPI Alerts in the way(s) that best suit your personal needs, please visit: http://wpialerts.wpi.edu/ to make your selections and provide your information (WPI credentials are required). On average, this process takes less than five minutes.  We ask you to enter your information by July 31, 2017.

Here are some tips:

  • In the event of a crisis, all WPI employees will automatically receive a WPI Alerts email via their work email.  You can, if you like, also add a personal email address.
  • To receive WPI Alerts via text and by voice calls, you will want to enter your mobile phone number.  Please do not use dashes or parentheses when providing that information.
  • If entering a “Voice Only” phone number (landline) do not use your office phone number as it could overwhelm the WPI phone system during an actual crisis.

We thank you for your support and participation with this important initiative.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the IT Service Desk directly at either ITS@wpi.edu or x5888.

Sincerely,
