Featured Exhibition: From the Vault – Collecting Tapestries at WAM
Explore the art, history, and craftsmanship of tapestries across time and cultures. From the Vault showcases nearly 30 rarely seen works, including:
- The monumental 16th-century Flemish Last Judgment tapestry, over 12 feet tall and 26 feet wide—on view for the first time in nearly a decade
- Jean Lurçat’s Harvest Time (1937), a modern revival of the tapestry medium through bold forms and vivid color
- dream disk (2024) by contemporary artist Diedrick Brackens, exploring themes of identity and queerness through textile art
Curated by Delaney Keenan, Assistant Curator of European Art, in collaboration with Claire C. Whitner, the Museum’s Director of Curatorial Affairs and James A. Welu Curator of European Art.
We hope you’ll join us for this engaging experience—and keep an eye out for future Staff Council events!
