I am the Assistant Research Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where I have been actively engaged in research since joining the institution. My primary research focus is on developing sustainable and environmentally responsible energy storage solutions by recycling spent Li-ion batteries and developing new electrodes and materials for energy storage applications, including but not limited to Li-ion batteries. Through this work, I am studying new energy storage materials that offer high energy density, high power density, long life, low cost, and high safety. Additionally, I am developing new recycling technologies for spent Li-ion batteries, which are critical for reducing electronic waste and creating a circular economy. My work has resulted in several patents, which have been commercialized, demonstrating the practical applications of my research.
