Mr. Adams earned an S.M. from MIT Sloan School of Management and after selling World Energy Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: XWES) which was subsequently purchased by EnerNOC, is actively fundraising and looking for further business opportunities.

Jorge Calzada

Jorge earned BS in Operations Technology and MS in Information Systems from Northeastern University as well as MBA from MIT - Sloan School of Management, graduating summa cum laude from all degrees.

A recipient of many honors, one that stands out is the 2014 Honoree - Ten Outstanding Young Leaders, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Jorge is currently the Director of The Business Planning and Performance team, which coordinates activities in the multi-year Business Operating Cycle,  for National Grid US.

Kajal Claypool '02, PhD

Assistant Group Leader Informatics and Decision Support - MIT LL

Dr. Claypool earned her PhD at WPI working under Data Science Program Director Elke Rundensteiner, PhD. She is currently working at MIT Lincoln Laboratories involved in research.

 

 

Anup Ghosh, '91, PhD

Founder and CEO Invincea

Anup earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia after graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering from WPI in1991.

Anup Ghosh, PhD is Founder and CEO at Invincea. Prior to founding Invincea, he was a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) where he created and managed an extensive portfolio of cyber security programs.

Anup has held roles as Chief Scientist at the Center for Secure Information Systems at George Mason University and as Vice President of Research at Cigital, Inc. He's also published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in cyber security journals.

Ghosh has served on the Naval Studies Board and the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, informing them of the future of American cyber-defenses. He can be heard frequently on CNN, CNBC, NPR and Bloomberg TV.

Christopher Gillett

Chief Technology Officer at Shareaholic, Inc.

Chris Gillett is the Chief Technology Officer of Shareaholic, an award winning growth toolkit, designed to help websites grow traffic, engagement and monetization.

After earning his BS in CS from Central Michigan University, Chris came east to patent an invention and make his mark in the Cambridge software world. Since 2004 he's been an early team member in 4 startups, two of which have gone on to be acquired.

Tom Kilkenny, '82

Global General Manager Aerospace and Defence, IBM

As a WPI alumnus, Tom is proud of his BS in Mechanical Engineering which launched his career into Aerospace Defense at IBM. He is currently the Global General Manager of this vertical at IBM, helping  to improve enterprise efficiencies and drive revenue growth.

However, perhaps Tom will be best remembered at WPI as being 'among the all-time greatest wrestlers' and as such, having been inducted into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.

Venkat Kolluri, PhD

CEO Chitika.com and Cidewalk.com

Venkat earned his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, PA, and is the co-founder, President, and CEO of Chitika, an online advertising network. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Cidewalk.com, a local marketing service which was recently awarded 'Recognition of Positive Impact on the Neighborhood and Local Economy," by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 

Dr. Shawn Murphy, PhD

Corporate Director of Research Information Systems and Computing at Partners Healthcare and an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School

Dr. Murphy earned his BS in chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, and his MD and PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Chicago. After an internship in medicine at Beth Israel in Boston, he did a neurology residency, epilepsy fellowship, and a computer science fellowship, all at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Subsequently he joined the faculty of the Laboratory for Computer Science at MGH and serves as an attending neurologist and instructor in medicine at Harvard. Dr. Murphy's informatics interests have centered on the use of clinical data to support research and he has designed 'complex adaptive systems' with mobile software agents to organize the unstructured elements of electronic medical records into formats that are usable for research purposes.

Paul Pilotte

Technical Marketing Manager at The MathWorks

Paul earned both a BSEE and an MSEE in Electrical Engineering from MIT, and then an MBA from Babson College Franklin W. Olin Graduate School of Business.

He recently wrote a paper on 'Educating Tomorrow's Data Scientists and Engineers' which we hope was inspired, at least in part, by his work with the WPI DS program.

His work as Technical Marketing Manager at The MathWorks involves hiring and coaching teams of product managers who in turn lead business development and technical marketing efforts to grow MATLAB adoption in data analytics, machine learning, computational finance and computational biology.

Les Servi, PhD

Group Leader, Operations Research, The MITRE Corporation

Dr. Servi earned an Sc.B/Sc.M. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, and an MS and PhD in Engineering from Harvard University.

Les is also an informs speaker and gives lectures on analyzing social media data having discontinuous underlying dynamics, including the identification of times of emotional discontinuity as reflected in social media.

 Currently he is Group Leader, Operations Research, The MITRE Corporation

Carine Simon, PhD

Engagement Director in Corporate Strategy and Research at Liberty Mutual Insurance

Dr. Simon earned the Diplome d'Ingenieur, Applied Mathematics at  Ecole Centrale de Paris and then a PhD in Operations Research from the Sloan School of Management, MIT.

Dr. Simon has moved from Director of Predictive Analytics to Engagement Director in Corporate Strategy and Research at Liberty Mutual Insurance. She is fluent in French, Spanish, German and English.

Zhiping Weng, PhD

Director and Professor University of Massachusetts Medical School Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology

Dr. Weng graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China with a B. in Electronic Engineering . She then earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University.

Presently she is a professor at UMass Medical School and  the Director of the Program in Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology at the University Campus - Albert Sherman Center.

The Zlab at UMass Medical School stands for Zhiping's Lab, a nickname dubbed by the first PhD student in the lab; and the name has stuck.

Christopher Zannetos

New Light Advisors, MIT Sloan School of Management, WPI

Chris earned an SB from MIT and an SM from MIT Sloan School of Management.

He was Founder and CEO of Courion Corporation for almost 20 years until it was successfully liquidated in 2015. Since then he's been looking for another corporate challenge. Until then Chis is serving on the MIT Interdisciplinary Consortium for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity, as well as CEO of New Light Advisors which provides strategic and operational advice to software and Internet start-ups.

Greg Karamitis

VP Analytics, Draftkings, Inc.

Greg earned a BS in Biostatistics, Biochemistry from Cornell University. In 2008 he was hired by Vistaprint to manage Customer Analytics and was responsible for leveraging analytics to derive customer insights. Greg moved to Sydney, Australia with Vistaprint to establish the analytics team for Vistaprint, Australia. He ultimately took on managing the acquisition and retention marketing functions for the Australian Market and the Japanese Customer Support Center.

He joined Draftkings in 2014 as the VP of Analytics where he is responsible for establishing an analytics function for the company.

Martin Leach, PhD

Vice President R&D IT at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Dr. Leach has recently joined Alexion Pharmaceuticals as Vice President after working for several years at BIOGEN.

Martin earned 1st class honors in a B.S. in cellular and molecular science from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, England and a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from Boston University School of Medicine.

At his new post at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Martin is responsible for IT as well as Research and Development.

Jim O'Neill '93

Chief People Officer at HubSpot

A WPI alumni, Jim graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1993.

Since then he's developed a remarkable career, and before joining HubSpot in 2007, was CTO and President of Pyramid Digital Solutions.

He's recently taken on an even more important role in the HR Department at HubSpot which is absorbing all of his Advisory Board time. Congratulations Jim!

Richard Resnick

CEO, GQ Life Sciences

Mr. Resnick earned a BS in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst,  an MS in Computer Science from WPI, an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Economics from MIT, and finally an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.

At this time Richard is CEO of GQ Life Sciences, helping customers improve health and agriculture through genomics.
