Student Resources
Organizations
Student branches of ECE organizations and a professional society student chapter at WPI are very active. Student organizations and professional societies provide important resources for students, such as networking opportunities, career information, and the chance to spend time with people who share a passion for electrical and computer engineering. After graduation, one of the most important functions these groups serve is the dissemination of technical knowledge that helps ensure engineers remain abreast of recent discoveries and technical advances in this complex and ever-changing field. Joining one of these groups is a positive step in making a commitment to lifelong learning.
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
With more than 350,000 members, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the world's largest technical professional society. WPI’s IEEE student chapter manages the undergraduate lounge on the first floor of Atwater-Kent Laboratories, and hosts department-wide events such as information sessions, guest speakers, the annual spark party, and barbecues.
