WPI’s four-course online graduate certificate in fire protection engineering puts you at the forefront of fire protection innovation and research. With guidance from your advisor, you will select a cluster of four thematically related courses, taught by industry leaders, to best meet your individual career goals.
This degree is also offered on campus.
You must complete the requirements for the online graduate certificate program four years from the date of admission into the program. The credits may be subsequently applied toward a master's degree if you are formally admitted to the MS program at a later date.
WPI also offers an online MS in Fire Protection Engineering.

As with the master of science program, applicants to the online graduate certificate in fire protection engineering should have a bachelor of science in engineering, engineering technology, or the physical sciences. Those with degrees in engineering technology or the physical sciences may be required to take selected undergraduate courses to round out their backgrounds.
Applicants should have already taken courses in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and calculus through differential equations.
