This popular program has since evolved and expanded, now offering both a full-length M.S. degree and two graduate certificates in Robotics Engineering and a Specialization in Autonomous Vehicles online to students around the world.

WPI’s online Robotics Engineering graduate certificates give students a solid foundation in the fundamentals of robotics engineering and an awareness of the systems contexts within which robotic systems are engineered.     WPI’s online graduate certificates in Robotics require a combination of core and elective courses, which provide you with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mathematics, and mechanical engineering underlying robotic systems as well as other areas of interest to you.

    OR 9 credits of thematically related Robotics graduate level course work, with RBE Graduate Program Committee Approval

    Electives (3 credits):
    With your advisor, choose electives to customize your certificate, based on your own career and educational goals.​

  • Graduate Certificate - Robotics Engineering with Specialization in Autonomous Vehicles

    The rapidly emerging field of autonomous vehicles encompasses a broad array of driverless and pilotless transportation systems in many domains, including road, rail, aerial, surface vessels and submersibles. The demand for expertise in this field had encouraged many individuals who already possess undergraduate engineering and science degrees to obtain new knowledge and insights on this exciting new field in autonomous technologies and systems.

    PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS (15 CREDITS)

    Robotics core courses (3 credits):

    Autonomous Vehicle Depth (9 credits):

    • RBE 550. Motion Planning
    • RBE 595. Special topic courses related to autonomous vehicles
    • Other graduate courses, with the approval of the academic department

    Elective (3 credits)
    With your advisor, choose electives to customize your certificate, based on your own career and educational goals.

Admission Guidelines for the Online Robotics Engineering Graduate Certificate​s

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering from an accredited university
  • Students with other backgrounds will be considered based on their interest, formal education, and work experience.
