December 15, 2006

What:

The 6th annual RoboNautica, sponsored by a generous gift from Raytheon, is a Massachusetts official tournament of FIRST LEGO League. The theme this year is "Nano Quest." WPI is hosting the event, which showcases the talents of hundreds of children ages 9-14 from throughout the Northeast. This year, 48 elementary- and middle-school teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York qualified to compete. With four competition table-pairs, the action is non-stop from the first match to the exciting elimination finals.  Teams will set their autonomous robots in action to accomplish simulated tasks such as turning on molecular motors, testing nanotube strength, and doing atomic force microscopy.
