WPI to Host Jazz Concert by Jim Odgren Quartet

What

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will hold a jazz concert and master class with the Jim Odgren Quartet.

Who

The Jim Odgren Quartet consists of Jim Odgren on alto saxophone, Dave Santoro on acoustic bass, Berklee College of Music student Juan Saenz on drums, and Berklee student Santiago Bosch on piano. Odgren has performed in concert and recorded with Gary Burton, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Swallow, Antonio Sanchez, and others. He played on pianist Hiromi Uehara's debut CD, Another Mind. Odgren is a featured saxophone soloist on a motion picture soundtrack for Paramount Pictures, and has composed and arranged for Rijnmond Saxophone Quartet for European tours, sharing the program with Jean Marie Londeix and Claude Delangle. He performed his arrangements and compositions for the Rijnmond Saxophone Quartet at the l0th World Saxophone Congress in Pesaro, Italy.

When

Saturday, Jan. 25, with a master class with Odgren and the WPI Jazz Ensemble at 3 p.m. and a concert by the Jim Odgren Jazz Quartet at 7 p.m. WPI Jazz Ensemble Prof. Richard Falco will perform a brief opening set at the concert.
