APG Policy for WPI Community Comment (Data Classification & Usage Policy)

Dear WPI Community,

As co-chairs of the Administrative Policy Group, we are writing to announce that, per the APG Process, the Data Classification and Usage Policy is posted for community comment. You may access the commenting page by clicking the following link:  APG Policy Comment Page. On the site, you will see instructions on how to comment.  The 30-day comment window is open through December 22, 2025.

WPI's current version of the Data Classification and Usage Policy required modernization. The revised policy aligns WPI’s data protection with current regulations, clarifies classifications, and sets clear handling rules for all technologies. These changes address gaps, respond to new risks like cloud workflows, and provide faculty, staff, and researchers with practical compliance guidance to reduce risk.  All proposed changes are summarized on the commenting page. 

The comment period allows any member of the WPI community to provide valuable input for consideration. Thank you for working together with us to ensure that WPI policies serve the needs of this community.
