Opening Gordon Library’s annual Meet the Author series, Prof. Trent Masiki will discuss his new book, The Afro-Latino Memoir (UNC Press 2023)in a conversation with Prof. Jorge Santos (Holy Cross) from 4-5pm, Monday November 27 in the Gordon Library Conference Room. Light refreshments will welcome in-person guests, and attendees will also be welcomed online via zoom.  Event details including Zoom link are available now.

Prof. Masiki joined WPI in 2022 as Assistant Professor of Africana Studies (Social Science & Policy Studies). His research focuses on the social, historical, and intercultural ties that bind African Americans to other communities of African descent in the US, Africa, and the African diaspora. His 2023 book, The Afro-Latino Memoirbrings critical attention to the understudied African American influences in Afro-Latino memoirs published after the advent of the Black Arts movement.

Future Meet the Author series throughout the 23-24 academic year will celebrate a variety of other authors and genres.  We hope you can join us for this first event of the year!
