Changing your phone or its operating system? That can impact your ability to use Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for access to some WPI resources. Here's what you need to know:
  • Getting a New Phone:  If your current phone has Microsoft Authenticator app configured for WPI MFA, there are steps you need to take BEFORE you decommission it and configure MFA on the new device. Instructions are in Manage Microsoft Authenticator App on the Help Portal.
  • Customized Operating Systems: Phones with customized operating systems (OS), often known as rooted or jailbreak devices, will no longer be capable of WPI MFA through Microsoft Authenticator App as of February 2026 per changes being made by Microsoft. To find out more about the changes Microsoft is making to the Authenticator app, visit the Help Portal News.
