Renuka Babu Brown has joined the Office of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OTIE) as advisor for faculty innovation and startup incubation, a position that involves helping faculty and alumni inventors develop their technologies and start businesses.

“My goal is to help faculty members accelerate the development of their research discoveries and determine the best way to bring those discoveries to market,” Brown says.

Brown joined WPI in January 2025 and served as a moderator at the Central Massachusetts Climate Tech Summit. She has experience in both the startup ecosystem and academia.

Most recently, Brown co-founded and served as chief executive officer of DOTS Technology Corp., a venture-backed company specializing in point-of-care diagnostics for food allergen detection. Her previous roles include executive director of new ventures at Boston University, where she focused on commercializing intellectual property as well as operational roles at life sciences companies. Brown began her career in investment banking at J.P. Morgan.

Brown received a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
