Department(s):
WPI PoliceThe National Weather Service forecasts a snowstorm this weekend, potentially bringing 4" to 8" of snow to the area Friday night into Saturday evening. This will impact parking on and around campus.
- All vehicles must be cleared from employee and commuter student parking lots by 9 p.m. tonight (Friday, Feb. 6).
- Students who park on city streets may move their vehicles to Gateway Garage. Gates will lift upon approach. Cars must be removed from the garage by 6 p.m. Monday.
- Students who park in residential student parking lots may leave their cars in those lots.
- There is no overnight parking in the Park Avenue Garage. The university is hosting a number of events on campus this weekend and expects the garage to fill with visitors’ vehicles.
The WPI shuttles are expected to continue normal operations if conditions allow. If that changes, the TripShot app will be updated and WPI Campus Police will send an email to the campus.
We expect the city to issue a parking ban in anticipation of the storm. The city will ticket and tow vehicles left on city streets during a ban. All Worcester municipal garages are open and free during city parking bans. More information is available on the city's parking website. (Please note the city’s parking alerts text system is currently not working.)
WPI’s response personnel will monitor campus to support the safety and well-being of our community and our facilities. Should you find yourself in an on-campus emergency situation, please call WPI Campus Police at 508-831-5555. Off campus, dial 911.
Thank you; your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
