Starship Enterprise, the company WPI partnered with to operate dining delivery robots on campus, recently made the business decision to discontinue its services within the higher education sector. As a result, Starship's autonomous robot delivery service will no longer be available at WPI.

However, WPI and Tech Eats are already working with another vendor to bring back robot delivery to our campus and anticipate relaunching in summer 2027.  We wish it could be sooner, but many campuses across the U.S. are experiencing the same service interruptions due to Starships’ abrupt exit of the higher education sector; new vendors are doing all they can to fill the gap.

We recognize that many members of our campus community enjoyed the convenience and accessibility that Starship's delivery service provided, and we understand that this news may be disappointing.  Although we're sorry to see Starship close its program, we are grateful for the role they played in introducing WPI to the delivery robot concept and for the support they gave us over the years.

We will keep the community updated with a more targeted timeline for launching a new delivery robot program. Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition.

Sincerely,

Tech Eats
