Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) observes Black History Month in February with events sponsored by the Office of Diversity Programs and partners. Events include performances, speakers, dinners, and workshops that focus on the culture and history of African Americans.

Feb. 2: Black History Month Kick-off Celebration, African percussion performance, Campus Center stage, noon to 1 p.m. Racial and cultural sensitivity training, Campus Center Hagglund Room, 6-7 p.m. (Sponsored by the Office of Diversity Programs and Insight Health & Wellness)

Feb. 3: African-American art display, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Campus Center.

Feb. 4: Soul Food Luncheon Series, WPI Step Team performance, noon to 1 p.m., Campus Center stage.

Feb. 5: “African-American Inventions that Changed Our World” presentation, 10 a.m. to noon, Elm Park School, Worcester.

Feb. 6: WPI Black History Month dinner, 5:15 to 7 p.m., Campus Center Odeum. (Sponsored by the Office of Diversity Programs and the Black Student Union) Friday Film Series: “The Great Debaters,” 7:30 to 11 p.m., Salisbury Labs. (Sponsored by SOCOMM)
