WPI's Women's Basketball Team Wins ECAC Division III New England Championship

WPI's women's basketball team won its second ECAC Division III New England Championship in three years on Sunday afternoon with a 43-36 victory over top-seeded Nichols College. With the win, the team's final season record stood at 24-6, a new school record for most victories in a season.

WPI's seniors, Natasha Deschene (Presque Isle, Maine) and Caitlin Macko (Cromwell, Conn.), finished their WPI careers with a 78-33 record, the most wins by any class in WPI's history.

The season ended for the men's team with an 81-68 loss to UMass Dartmouth in round two of the NCAA Division III Championships. It was the team's fifth straight appearance in the tournament. The men (21-6) defeated Husson (Bangor, Maine) 86-57 in the opening round on Friday evening.
