At WPI Camp, Teens Learn to be Entrepreneurs

WPI will host a five-day high school Teen Entrepreneurship Camp June 25-29 for youth interested in getting a leg up on how to excel in the business world. An intensive, fun, and interactive week of talks, hands-on workshops, and creativity exercises, this camp will raise teens' awareness of their abilities to build their own business or social venture.

What

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will host a five-day high school Teen Entrepreneurship Camp for youth interested in getting a leg up on how to excel in the business world. An intensive, fun, and interactive week of talks, hands-on workshops, and creativity exercises, this camp will raise teens' awareness of their abilities to build their own business or social venture. Teens will learn idea validation and goal-setting along with the basics of creating a business or social venture while focusing on their strengths, passions, interests, and abilities. Interaction with motivated entrepreneurs and non-profit organization leaders will help them define and refine their ideas for building a business or social venture. Only 30 teens will be accepted.

After attending this camp, teens will be able to make a difference in their communities through improving their ability to start a business or social venture, which will lead to better decision-making, values, and leadership in the future. Campers will learn how to set goals, recognize opportunities, define a market, design and build a Web site as well as accounting, marketing, and sales basics, among other topics. Teens will also be able to develop their entrepreneurial mindset by learning how to make a sales pitch as well as how to negotiate, network, and name a business and design a business card.
