Captain Fillinger is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and the Recruiting Officer for AFROTC Detachment 340 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts (AETC). He is responsible for educating, training, and commissioning the next generation of Air Force and Space Force officers. 

Capt Fillinger earned his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), Detachment 630 in May 2019 at Kent State University in Ohio. He completed the Air Force intelligence officer course in August 2020, and since then has held several intelligence positions related to global air mobility operations, air-launched weapons development and testing, installation wide intelligence support, and intelligence support to Electromagnetic Spectrum Management Operations. Captain Fillinger has taken part in multiple multinational, interagency and joint exercises. In 2025, he deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, where he served as the Chief of ISR Plans and Chief of ISR Operations at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
