Sathwik Bharadwaj

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sathwik Bharadwaj is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Previously, he was a Research Scientist at the Birck Nanotechnology Center and the Elmore School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Hyderabad, India. Dr. Bharadwaj leads the Computational Quantum Design Group at WPI, which focuses on developing predictive theoretical and computational methods to design emergent materials and quantum devices and establishing a roadmap for advancing quantum-light science and technology. He has received several accolades for his research, including the Japan Computational Mathematical Science and Engineering Lecture Award in 2019, the Sigma Xi Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2020, the Bravo+ Award from Purdue University in 2023, and the Gold Medal from the University of Hyderabad in 2015.
