Alan Baker is WPI's Assistant Chief Technology Officer for Architecture and Infrastructure. In this capacity, Alan provides strategic and operational leadership across WPI's entire technology infrastructure — spanning Systems, Virtualization, Endpoints, Cloud, Network Engineering, Network Security, Campus Safety Services, Application and Database Server Support, Web Systems, Load Balancers, Patching, and Software Delivery.

Alan also serves as Chair of the Information Technology Architecture Review Board, where he leads enterprise-wide governance of technology standards, solution design, and architectural compliance. He is the author of a broader suite of institutional technology standards that govern how infrastructure and solutions are designed, evaluated, and implemented across the university.

Alan joined WPI in 2019 following a 20-year career at Concord Communications, Computer Associates, and Broadcom. As Principal Network Engineer at Computer Associates, he was responsible for the architecture, design, and technical leadership of a global network spanning 96 offices worldwide.
