INNOVATIONS RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY
Innovations Mission Statement
The mission of WPI’s Innovations Residential Community (RC) is to optimize access to campus resources and support for students who identify as first generation and to foster their personal, academic, and professional development at WPI.
What is First Generation?
First generation is used to define is any student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a 4-year (bachelor’s) college degree in the United States.
What to expect from Innovations
- Full-time staff and/or faculty members will be Innovations Fellows who will advise, mentor, and support the Innovations RC students.
- Residential Services staff along with the Innovations Fellows, Resident Advisors, and Community Advisors will implement programming to support the community, provide one-on-one opportunities to connect with students, and attend socials in a mentor role to ensure that first generation students have the resources they need to succeed at WPI.
- Upper-level students who identify as first generation will mentor students, helping them navigate WPI.
The Innovations Residential Community does not live in one specific residence hall or location, but rather students can select any first year space on campus and will be included in the programming, support, and guidance throughout the entire academic year. Students will receive more information over the summer about this opportunity.
